Medinet Alliance, a telehealth network backed by a consortium of regional insurers, is expanding its platform into four new Southeast Asian markets after two years of operation in its home market.
The service combines an asynchronous symptom-triage chat with on-demand video consultations, routing patients to the appropriate specialist tier based on an initial AI-assisted intake rather than a generalist gatekeeper model. The company says this has cut average time-to-specialist from several weeks to under four days in its existing market.
Insurer backing has been central to the model: participating plans waive co-pays for the async triage step entirely, betting that earlier specialist routing reduces downstream costs from delayed diagnosis.
The expansion will require building out local specialist networks in each new market, which the company says is the primary bottleneck rather than the technology itself.
